The humantay lagoon is formed as a thaw product of a large snow that is also part of a chain
mountainous called mountain range of vilcabamba. At the edge of the Humantay lagoon you can see stone towers
built by visitors, these are called Apachetas and are a symbol of respect for the lagoon and the Apus of the area that are considered as living sacred beings, where also offerings are made with three coca leaves “Quintu” representing the trilogy Andean, El Hananpacha (the world above or the sky), the Qaypacha (the world we live in) and the Ukhupacha (The world below or from the dead). Also asking permission and invoking the Pachamama and the Apus.
